Since the Northern Leader first set sail three years ago, it's never postponed a fishing trip due to bad weather. And with potentially $2 million worth of fish at stake each trip, it's understandable.
There is no Alaskan fishing ship quite like Northern Leader. Towing an astonishingly long 50-mile fishing line with 75,000 hooks, she reels in some of the best cod, pollock, and skate on the planet while powering through the unforgiving Bering Sea. Northern Leader works year-round and is built for high winds and cold temperatures, and she better be. Her latest excursion puts her and her crew right into the path of a hurricane, with 70 MPH winds and 30-foot swells, including one massive wave that may spell disaster for one of the deckhands.
